TW: As some of you may know Rick Lowry and Michelle Malkin represent cutting edge punditry for the right-wingnuts. They are regrettably quite influential. I can only say that I in fact did not sit up straighter, I did gag a bit. I provide the quotes in order, for those of you who generally avoid such garbage, to get a taste of the intellectual vacuity of some on the right. UPDATE: See below for comical commentary by the inimitable Dick "The Toe" Morris. I should add the obvious in case you missed it: every poll that I saw showed Biden winning the debate and Obama gained 10 points today in the Intrade betting contest, Obama is now favored 70 to 30 to win the big dance. Facts, of course, rarely get in the way of wingnuts (left or right).
From Mr. Lowry (National Review):
"I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it.
From Michelle Malkin from her blog:
"First, I would like to see all the Sarah doubters and detractors in the Beltway/Manhattan corridor eat their words....Eat them.
Sarah Palin is the real deal. Five weeks on the campaign trail, thrust onto the national stage, she rocked tonight’s debate. She was warm, fresh, funny, confident, energetic, personable, relentless, and on message. She roasted Obama’s flip-flops on the surge and tea-with-dictators declarations, dinged Biden’s bash-Bush rhetoric, challenged the blame-America defeatism of the Left..."
From Toe Sucker Morris:
"She didn't just win the vice-presidential debate, she showed that she belongs with Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton as among the best communicators of our modern political times...Biden sounded like the warmed-over has-been that he is - he seemed to be on downers. Where she was thrilling and exciting, he was hypnotically boring. He seemed like more of the same, while she seemed like a breath of fresh air...The Alaska governor did a wonderful job of displaying her experience and justifying her candidacy in terms of her expertise on energy issues. It's now far harder to dismiss her as an unqualified flake.More, she connected in a way that few politicians do: She speaks for us.Palin did a lot to help McCain last night - illustrated the best about him. But she did more to help herself - vaulting to a leading role among women in American politics. Her authenticity and unique style will be with us for years to come. [TW Please NO!]
