TW: The Emanuel pick is great. I know Obama is no goo-goo, you may know that but there are those that do not. Obama's smooth, cool mixed with Emanuel pragmatic intensity will fit hand and glove. They are certainly well -acquainted and while Emanuel has Clintonian roots he has made his largest impact post-2001 as a key member of the Dem leadership in the House. Trust me any whining from the Republicans reflects their angst at Obama starting off with a strong pick. I post several quotes below. I especially like:
Josh Marshall's from TPM.
"Emerging DC Meme- Weak-willed Chief of Staff would be better way for Obama to 'change the tone' of Washington."
TW: Also the fact that Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC) is praising the pick as a tough but fair negotiator while left-wing pundit David Corn is expressing concern that Emanuel is not sufficiently "changy" enough is exactly the kind of reaction I like to see. Obama has a huge reservoir of credibility with the left, building up a little more with the right can only do well.
Btw I fully expect Obama's first serious griping to come from the left not the right but that is fine.

TW: Another relevant quote from Politico:
"Obama wants a bad cop so he can be good cop 90 percent of the time."-- An Obama adviser, quoted by Politico, on why President-elect Obama wants Rep. Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff.
TW: And finally from Cilizza at WaPo ten Emanuel facts to know:
