Circular Failure Of Government

From Krugman at NYT:
"Our failure proves our point
Life is easy if you’re a conservative. Even if conservatives fail completely while in power, they can turn around and say, “See — that proves our point. Government doesn’t work!”
But this op-ed from
Gary Becker and Kevin Murphy takes the failure as vindication line to new heights:

The focus on government solutions is particularly disappointing
given its poor record in dealing with crises in the US and many other countries, such as the aftermath of hurricane Katrina and failure effectively to prosecute the war in Iraq [my emphasis].

May I suggest that Becker and Murphy read, say,
this report, titled Ties to GOP Trumped Know-How Among Staff Sent to Rebuild Iraq.
[bangs head on table]"

TW: Krugman frames a key Republican trait relative to government- circularity of logic. They mess up things royally and then extrapolate to assert "government" is a failure. Government is not some alien entity it is ourselves. Government fails when we fail and vice versa. Again where are the solutions?
