NOTCOT had an interesting post on champagne the other day. More specifically, Veuve Clicquot and the glassware most appropriate for serving that golden nectar. (FYI - the author prefers the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label glass - something about how the point in the stem causes the bubbles to stream straight up. I think they look too much like white wine glasses).
I prefer a narrower flute - I wouldn't want someone to make the mistake of filling my glass with just any white wine, especially if they're pouring Veuve Clicquot. Check out the article - there were some interesting facts about the history of champagne glasses and enough images of said glasses to get you digging out your ice bucket.
